Adam Brockley made the huge decision to build his dream home from scratch and so without delay, moved his wife and two sons into the on-site converted garage space so that he could closely manage the development.
Unfortunately for Adam, he begun to have serious doubts about his chosen builders. They weren’t consistent with their work, often did not turn up and offered no explanation, and it was becoming clear to Adam that the quality of their works was not what he had been promised.
Adam made the decision to pause the development and search for another builder in Hertfordshire. After meeting with Datum Point Directors Paul Adams and Greg Thabit, Adam felt positive that this team of local builders could do the job, and most importantly, do it well.
Despite Datum Point Construction unearthing a number of serious issues with the building works already completed by the previous builders, the team soon managed to rectify any structural problems and completely turned the development around. We worked closely with Adam and his architects to fine tune any designs and provide input where necessary, and the outcome is this beautiful property.
Nobody should have to go through what Adam went through with his first builders but the fact is that this kind of thing happens daily. Mistakes like this are costly – both financially and emotionally. Fortunately this story does have a happy ending, as you can see in the pictures.
Market Hill, Royston
David and Charlotte bought a beautiful Victorian townhouse that was in need of a lot of love. The couple had big plans for the transformation of the downstairs space in particular, and armed with ideas they went in search for the perfect builder.
Upon recommendation from a local, upmarket bathroom company, the couple reached out to Datum Point Construction and a meeting was arranged. After discussing the couples ideas and how they might be translated into designs with the help of a local architect, Datum Point Directors Paul and Greg took David and Charlotte to visit some of their live building projects.
The couple were really impressed with the works we were undertaking at the time and with the level of transparency we offer as a business. Of course it all comes down to trust.
We’ve recently completed the build at Market Hill and our clients were thrilled with the outcome. Datum Point Construction delivered exactly what David and Charlotte were after.
